Freshman Advisement - Class of 2027

Freshman Advisement is a Cobb County program whose purpose is to help freshmen and their families in developing a plan of study for the remaining three years of high school. Advisement is a 3-step process that includes attending a group presentation, completing the Individual Graduation Plan (IGP), and completing elective registration for Fall 2024.

Dates

Freshman Advisement will be held on select dates at Walton High School from Friday, March 8 – Thursday, March 28 during all lunch periods (3rd-6th periods) in the media center's Lecture Hall.

Registration

Click here to register for a Freshman Advisement appointment. The registration link will be open from Tuesday, February 6 - Friday, March 1. Students who do not register for a session will complete Freshman Advisement without a parent/guardian at a later date.

Students must bring their school-issued or personal device to their Freshman Advisement appointment. If your student does not have a school-issued device, click here for directions to opt-in for one through ParentVue. Please opt-in at least one week before your advisement appointment to allow time for pick up and required set up. Phones are not acceptable personal devices for advisement purposes.

Students should bring their lunch and eat during Freshman Advisement.

Parking

Parking Information

If you register for a 10:30 am, 11:30 am, or 12:30 pm session, please park in the bus lanes behind the school. Do not park in the numbered spaces in the front and back lots. We will have a volunteer stationed at the back door to direct you where to go for your advisement session.   

If you register for a 1:30 pm session, please park in front of the school in any available spot and check in with the volunteer. Bus lanes must be empty to allow room for the buses to arrive beginning around 2:00 pm. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE BACK.

Freshman Advisement

Freshman Advisement reviews the following: graduation & grade promotion requirements, HOPE & Zell Miller eligibility, summer course registration, and more. Students also complete their Individual Graduation Plans and course registration for sophomore year.
