The Counseling Department at Walton High School is dedicated to helping our students reach their goals. Through personal support, school wide programs, and assistance, the Counseling Department is committed daily to the young people of our community.

School counselors are assigned by last names. Counselors encourage students to come in during their lunch period or email their counselors to make an appointment from 8:00 am - 3:45 pm. Parents should email their child's school counselor for an appointment.

Sophomore Parent Night

During this presentation, school counselors will review graduation/promotion requirements, HOPE scholarship information, and course registration procedures.
Then our guest speaker, who is an expert in the field of admissions testing, will discuss the PSAT Score Report and what it means for your student. PSAT score reports were made available on the CollegeBoard website in early December.* To get the most out of the evening, please print your student's score report and have it available during the presentation. *Walton does not have access to the student’s individual score report. Students must log into their CollegeBoard account using the log-in credentials created when they took the PSAT. If your student does not remember this information, you must contact CollegeBoard.

Rising Freshman Parent Night

Walton High School Theater
A general overview of Walton's academic program will be presented to rising 9th grade parents/guardians. Administrators will also preview Walton’s many academic and extra-curricular opportunities. Department heads will be available to answer questions after the presentations.

Freshman Advisement

Walton High School
Freshman Advisement is a Cobb County program that helps parents and students in planning a program of study for the remaining three years of high school. Parents and students will have an opportunity to hear a presentation on graduation requirements, HOPE scholarship criteria, and the best academic pathway to meet students' post-secondary goals. Elective registration for Fall 2023 will also be conducted during Freshman Advisement. Registration TBA.

ASVAB Test

Walton High School will offer an administration of the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) to juniors and seniors. Military personnel will offer a score interpretation session approximately three weeks after the administration.

The counseling department will present the next steps for rising seniors on planning for their future. Options include job training and apprenticeships, the military, technical colleges, 2-year and 4-year colleges. Students will be given their summer assignment of completing their Post-Secondary Options Packet along with their English summer reading which will be due the first day of school.
