8th Grade STEM Q&A Night

Walton STEM classrooms
Walton STEM Q & A Night has changed the time of the meeting to 5pm, on Tuesday, March 8th instead of 6:30pm to accommodate the parent meeting for rising 9th graders. We will have Walton students available in the atrium to direct families to the meeting location. Students are welcome to stay in the classroom to do a STEM activity while the parents attend the 6pm rising 9th grade meeting. Students will need to be picked no later than 7:30pm that night. Any parent attending the Q & A session is welcome to attend the 6pm general meeting regardless of last name. Click here for more information about the Walton STEM Academy.

Walton High School Theater
There will be two identical presentations which will include a general overview of our academic program. Administrators will also preview Walton’s many academic and extra-curricular opportunities. Department heads will be available to answer questions after the presentations.
For those unable to attend, the meeting will be posted on the Walton School Counseling website under Presentations.
Understanding PSAT Score Report
Students can log into their CollegeBoard account to view and download their PSAT score report. If students do not have an account with CollegeBoard, click here to set one up. Students can also view their PSAT scores on BigFuture School. If students provided their cell phone number on test day, they will have received a text message with access to the BigFuture School mobile app.
Summer 2024Â Information
The records room in the school counseling department will be open this summer on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm. The records room will be closed the week of July 4. Email melissa.schrenk@cobbk12.org with questions.
How to Send Free AP Score Report
Every year that students take an AP Exam, they have the option to send one score report for free to the college, university, or scholarship organization of their choice. Score reports include both this year's and past AP Exam scores unless students choose to withhold or cancel a score. Ensure students activate their free AP score send by the June 20 deadline.

Junior Advisement - Class of 2024
Junior Advisement is a Cobb County program to help juniors and their families plan for senior year, ensure they will meet all Georgia high school graduation requirements, and start thinking about post-secondary options after graduation. Junior Advisement is a 4-step process that includes attending a group presentation, submitting the required Bridge Bill survey, completing the Individual Graduation Plan (IGP), and checking out with any available school counselor.
Dates
Junior Advisement will be held during all lunch periods (3rd – 6th periods) on select dates from Tuesday, November 1 – Tuesday, November 15. While you can sign up for any session, if you want to hear a presentation by your child’s school counselor, click here to see a schedule of when the counselors will be presenting.
Registration Link
The registration for junior advisement has closed. Please email betsy.alpert@cobbk12.org to book a time for junior advisement or reschedule your appointment. Students who do not register for a session will complete Junior Advisement without a parent/guardian at a later date.
Laptops
Students must bring their school-issued or personal device to their Junior Advisement appointment. We have limited access to different devices.Â
-- If you would like to opt-in for a school-issued device, you can still do so in ParentVue. Please opt-in at least one week before your advisement appointment to allow time for pick up and required set up.Â
-- If your student will be using a personal device, please ensure it is connected to the school Wi-Fi before your session starts. Phones are not acceptable personal devices.
Parking Information
-- If you register for a 10:30 am, 11:30 am, or 12:30 pm session, please park in the bus lanes behind the school. Do not park in the numbered spaces in the front and back lots. We will have a volunteer stationed at the back door to direct you where to go for your advisement session.  Â
-- If you register for a 1:30 pm session, please park in front of the school in any available spot and check in with the volunteer.
Junior Advisement - Class 2025
Junior Advisement is a Cobb County program to help juniors and their families plan for senior year, ensure they will meet all Georgia high school graduation requirements, and start thinking about post-secondary options after graduation.
Junior Advisement is a multi-step process that includes watching and reviewing the PowerPoint presentation, completing the required Bridge Bill survey in Naviance, and completing an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP). Students and parents/guardians will then meet individually with a school counselor to discuss graduation requirements and senior year classes.

PowerPoint Presentation
The PowerPoint will provide juniors and their families with further information about post-secondary planning for life after graduation. It also includes directions on how to complete the Bridge Bill survey in Naviance and how to sign up for the individual advisement appointment with the school counselor.

Junior Advisement is a 4-step process that includes attending a (1) group presentation, (2) submitting the required Bridge Bill survey, (3) completing the Individual Graduation Plan (IGP), and (4) checking out with any available school counselor.

Junior Advisement will be held during all lunch periods (3rd - 6th periods) on select dates from Tuesday, October 24 - Friday, November 17. Students who do not register for a session will complete Junior Advisement without a parent/guardian at a later date.
PSAT/NMSQT
The digital PSAT will be given on two days.
9th & 10th Grade - All 9th and 10th graders will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 4. They are automatically registered for the PSAT, and the State of Georgia and Walton High School covers the fee.
11th Grades - The PSAT/NMSQT will be given to 11th graders on Wednesday, October 25. 11th graders taking the PSAT/NMSQT can qualify for scholarships, including National Merit Scholarship Program. 11th graders must register and pay for the PSAT/NMSQT through MyPaymentsPlus. The cost is $18. Registration deadline is Friday, August 18.
